What a Move-Out Clean Has to Cover

A move-out clean is different from every other clean for one reason: the space is empty, so there is nowhere for anything to hide. Furniture is gone, cabinets are open, and the marks that lived quietly behind a sofa for three years are suddenly the first thing anyone sees.

Kitchens carry the most weight. Inside the oven, inside and behind the refrigerator, the range hood filter, the inside of every cabinet and drawer, and the tops of cabinets where grease and dust make a film that a wipe will smear rather than remove. These are the places a walk-through goes first, because they are the places a normal weekly clean never touches.

Bathrooms come second and are mostly about build-up rather than dirt: mineral deposits on fixtures and glass, grout, the base of the toilet, and the extractor fan cover. Build-up needs dwell time and the right product, not force. Scrubbing harder mostly just damages the surface.

Then the edges of every room — baseboards, door frames, switch plates, window sills and tracks, vents, and the closet interiors everyone forgets because they were full until yesterday. Floors go last, once everything above them has been done, so nothing lands on a floor you have already finished.

The timing matters as much as the checklist. A move-out clean has to happen after the space is completely empty and before the inspection, which is usually a narrow window on a day when everything else is also happening. Booking it in advance against your actual hand-back date is the difference between a calm handover and a rushed one.
